Golfing in the Rain: Part Two
Two Blog posts prior to this one I wrote about some of the “good” things that come with golfing in the rain. Feel free to refresh your memory here. Well it seems I angered the Golf Gods and they decided to show me what real rain was! A line of storms arrived just as I arrived at the course, I had to wait that one out in the bar for about an hour. It was not too bad and it thoroughly saturated the course yielding the slow conditions I like. As I paid for my round, I asked the attendant what the rest of the afternoon looked like as far as the radar was concerned. He responded, “Should be no more than a few showers”. I thought, “OK, I can dig that”, and went out. Well, first hole was a beauty, tee shot right in the middle of the fairway sitting about 190 from the middle of the green. I then hit what may well be the best (and longest) 3-wood off the deck in my golfing career, I reached the green! That’s right! I was on a par 4 green in 2! Mind you, where the pin was placed that day, I had a 50-plus foot putt for birdie. Hey, it can happen! But not as likely after a torrential downpour, I 3 putted for a double bogey....
