Golf Therapy | Breaking Pins

I hit he golf range again for the second week in a row. I still have a long way to go, as you’ll see in the video below. As you will also see in the video, I am now finally able to lift my right hand/arm above my head. I do not think it is coincidence that after I hit a bucket of balls last week my progress seems to have taken a rather large leap forward. As I commented last week as to how I have to “pull” my right hand/arm back, that is still the case, however, last week and this week, the follow through (though abbreviated) is all my right arm. Today, before my therapist beat me up, I preformed my usual range of motion test and was able to lift my right arm up from my side all the way up into the air above my head. It required considerable effort, but I was able to do it finally! I really do think it was from hitting golf balls two weeks in a row. I have said it before, “golf is my therapy”. I think it is now more so than ever before! I really do not have much else to write about. Such as product-oriented reviews and thoughts, things that are “JaysGolfApproved”, etc. As it is I am still only bringing my 52 degree...

JaysGolf Progress

I thought I would give an update as to how my rehabilitation process is going. I am Happy to report I was able to go to the golf range and hit balls last week. I only brought with me a 52 degree, a 7 iron, and my TaylorMade Raylor hybrid, but I was impressed with my ability to hit all three. I had visions of not being able to hit anything aside from a wedge while I was writing my last blog . I was rusty, as you can see from the video below, but this is also only the second time I have hit golf balls since last year! I cannot blame my injury for everything! I noticed three main issues with my swing/game that are directly related to my injury. The first, and most evident, is my lack of distance. I lost about 30-40% off my 7 iron and hybrid distances (although, but the end of the basket, I was stroking the Raylor. That club is so easy to hit). The second and third are somewhat related, my backswing and follow through are abbreviated. The former being more detrimental than the latter. I found I had to “pull” my right arm back with my left hand, which, if not careful may lead to a bad habit. I do not know how long it might be before I...

JaysGolf in Storage

Some may say I have a good excuse for still having my golf clubs in storage in late May. Some may also say I have a good excuse for having JaysGolf.com in “virtual storage” until now. I am sure you can guess I intend to argue the contrary. However, I like doing that regardless of the argument, usually. I will present both sides, and in the process, enlighten you to the reasons for putting JaysGolf.com on the shelf. I derive most of my inspiration for any given blog while I am playing golf. I hope that impression comes across in most of the blogs you have read. I think that is because when I play I almost always encounter a situation that yields introspection. One reason I think golf is great for youngsters, but I’ll explore that in a future blog. This is supposed to be about ME! So, getting back to me, I am far less enthused about any activity if I cannot preform said activity. In the case of golf, I have been unable to play for six months for two reasons. This winter my area received over 60 inches of snow, and the first week of April I injured my Brachial Plexus which caused my entire right arm to no longer function. Those are the two reasons there has been no golf in my life this...

JaysGolf Motivation

I have been hearing the song “Sail” by AWOLNATION being used by many I follow on social media, either to be funny or coupled with sports clips. I checked out the full version of the song and was playing it on my commute to work over the weekend. As I arrived at work I realized I had the song on repeat as my mind wandered. I thought about “JaysGolf” and how far it has come and how far it has yet to go. I also thought the same of myself. Of course, without me, there is no “JaysGolf”, is there?! As I listened to this song over and over my mind thought back through all the videos I have made and the message I want them, and this site, to convey. That message being motivation, inspiration possibly. I literally thought about creating the following montage video. Not only for your benefit, but for my own as well. I needed a reminder why I need to continue playing...

Kikkor Golf Men’s Tour Pro – Black Court Golf Shoe Review

I want to present a review of the Kikkor Golf Men’s Tour Pro, Black Court Golf Shoe to you in this blog. For some reason I have found it difficult to formulate this write up in a way that pleases me. That may sound like an odd second sentence when writing a golf shoe review, I know it was odd to write it. I mean, it is just a golf shoe after all. Well, I like to try to find some sort of deeper, more personally introspective, twist on anything I write about here on JaysGolf.com. I do this not only for myself, but in hopes that you, my reader, might think about what I am writing about in a new or unique way. If I am able to do that, I find pleasure and satisfaction. So, back to the shoe from Kikkor. I do not know how introspective the shoe pictured above is, but I can say that I was in such a mind state while wearing them for the first time in the picture posted below… At the time of this picture I was awaiting the beginning of what was only the third round of 2013 and it was July. One of the reasons I purchased these shoes was in a quest for comfort. This is in no way an excuse, but for the majority of 2013...
