I have been reading and hearing much talk about golf fitness since Tiger Woods won the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill this past week. Fact is, Tiger was the first player to “bulk up” that we noticed. Remember when he was of a lean and lanky build?
Now he is built more like a tailback in American Football!
Point is, it’s obvious that Tiger has been hitting the gym. What may be a more important observation is how many PGA Pro’s and amateurs alike, have followed Tiger’s lead. Just have a look at the transformation Rory McIlroy has undergone.
I have been a gym rat nearly as long as a golfer. For me, I knew it was a necessity to stay in the best shape possible because of my Cerebral Palsy. It has been said, “If you don’t use it you’ll loose it!”, well this is especially true for me. Even though Tiger is only a year older than I, I am going to assert that I was ahead of him on the bodybuilding front! Mind you, that is about all I can claim!
Even though I have posted these videos before, I thought it was worth digging them up again to present to you. Hopefully they will inspire you to add gym time into your golf game as well!
